7 secrets of the Priorat

Shhh… Don't say it too loudly, but we want to tell you what our favorite corners of the Priorat are. If you are still hesitant about whether to go to the Pyrenees, to the Costa Brava, or go down to the south…. we help you decide! :-) We have a wonderful country and it would also be very difficult for us to choose, but surely we would not move from the Priorat, because there are beautiful spots that we know from top to bottom and that we want to share with our future holidaymakers.

1 WALKING ROUTE WITH FINAL SOAKING IN THE PALLISSA LAKE

An ideal place to get rid of the heat five minutes away from the hotel. We don't have a beach, but we do have rivers and natural pools. If you come by public transportation, we will order for you a taxi that will take you there. From there you can take a route through the Sierra de Llaberia, go to the Torre de Fontaunbella, come back and jump straight into the water!

And if you want we will prepare you a picnic with local products and a good wine from the DO Montsant or the DOQ Priorat for you to eat and drink by the river!

2 GRAUS OF MONTSANT

Today we are talking about the Grau of Carrasclet and the Grau of Bars.

It is a circular route through the Montsant mountain range, which leaves from the Morera de Montsant and climbs the mountain range through the Grau del Carrasclet, a step equipped as a small via ferrata. At the top, the route follows a wide ledge, passing by the Balcó de Priorat, an exceptional viewpoint, and other unique points until it joins the Camí de Grau dels Barrots, another equipped step, shorter and easier than the Carrasclet, which takes us back down to the starting point.

3 WINE ROUTE THROUGH THE PRIORAT

Priorat and Montsant wines are recognized all over the world, but getting to know them first hand by doing wine tourism in the territory where they are made is an experience you can’t miss. If you want to do wine tourism in Catalonia, the Priorat Wine Route is what you are looking for. Our secret is that we will recommend the wineries that will suit you best and help you contact them. You know that in the villages we all know each other, and that there is a wine for every type of person ;-). What will be yours?

4 SIURANA, AN ESSENTIAL

It’s no secret, but you can’t miss it. This beautiful village was the last bastion of Saracen resistance in Catalonia, reconquered in 1154. Siurana, with its cobbled houses and alleys, will steal your heart. We recommend you make profit of the day and do a kayak route to the Toll del Forn, at the end of the Siurana reservoir. There is a pebble beach, a small waterfall and a pool of clean, fresh water for swimming. And if you look up you can see the Jump of the Black Queen. Beautiful! :-)

5 ARE YOU LOOKING FOR ADVENTURE?

Did you know that in the Priorat you can fly a paramotor? Or tour the vineyards by 4x4? Or take an exciting paragliding flight through the Serra de Montsant Natural Park? Look at all the craziness you can do this summer with all the safety in the world! :-)

6 YOGA AND WINE TASTING IN THE GARDEN

We have a favorite spot and yes... we already know that it might not be the most fair... but it is our garden! :-) A quiet spot surrounded by trees, ideal for spending hours chatting, eating, reading, resting… Or if you want, you can participate in yoga and wine tasting sessions that we will schedule this July and August. Stay at (our) home and enjoy relaxing in nature! That's why we've been there for almost 100 years and we wouldn't move.

7 ARE YOU A BIKE OR A MOTOR LOVER?

However it is, in the Priorat you have everything! If you are a bicycle lover and you like your getaways or holidays to always be on two wheels, we recommend you to come to the Priorat. Quiet landscapes, dizzying paths, wine roads with scandalous curves or paths with views of the most emblematic areas of the Priorat. In the region you will find routes for all tastes and levels and at the Hotel Hostal Sport we will recommend the best routes to do with friends or family.

We suggest you 3 different tracks: 108km, 51km and 33km long

Oh, and if you want we can prepare you a dinner rich in carbohydrates or a sandwich and fruit for you to take on the route. Remember that we have parking to store bicycles in total safety, closed and guarded!
