The landscape of the Priorat is postulated as World Heritage

After six years of work from the territory, the Government of Catalonia has taken as his own the candidacy of the cultural landscape of the Priorat to try to include it in the list of UNESCO World Heritage

There isn't an archaeological site of great magnitude, or a collection of Romanesque churches, or a waterfall or a Taj Mahal, but the Priorat is a region with an authentic Mediterranean agricultural landscape.

The region which has positioned itself as the birthplace of some of the best wines in the world, is shown as it is today, without fanfare, without haste, without noise or crowds
 
Each year the Heritage Council Spanish chooses several candidates and the Priorat will be discussed at the next meeting, scheduled for this fall. Then is UNESCO who will have the last word .

Indeed, the uniqueness of this candidacy does not leave from the administration but arises from the concern of the civil society of Priorat. Years of work, studies, conferences and specific activities have finished convincing and involving local, provincial and finally, the Government of Catalonia.
